I Sew 4 U- Bridal Alterations
Our Services
Wedding Dress Alterations are our speciality!!!! How long will my alteration take, and how much will it cost?
That's the million-dollar question! As the saying goes, "How long is a piece of string?"
It can be surprisingly difficult to estimate the time needed for an alteration. Until I carefully unpick a garment and see how it's been constructed, I can't always tell whether the job will be straightforward or more complex than it first appears.
Unfortunately, it's also impossible to provide an accurate quote from a photograph alone. We really do need to see you wearing the dress or outfit so we can assess exactly what needs to be done and discuss the best approach.
I charge by the hour and will always do my best to give you a realistic estimate of the time and cost involved. My consultations are completely free and come with no obligation.
The good news? There's very little I can't alter. The biggest variable is usually not whether it can be done, but how long it will take. Alterations
How much will it cost? I charge an hourly rate for all alterations. Because every dress is different, I need to see you wearing your dress before I can estimate how long the alterations will take.
Your consultation is completely free, with no obligation. During your appointment, we'll discuss what you'd like done, assess the work required, and give you our best estimate of the time and cost involved.
How long before my date do I need to book? It's never too early to book! I often take bookings up to 12 months in advance, especially for weddings.
Wedding season is my busiest time, and as there are only one or sometimes 2 of us here at I Sew 4 U, I can only take on a limited number of alteration bookings each month. If you know your date, I recommend booking as early as possible to secure your place. Even if your dress has not arrived yet - you can still pre- book in all of your appointments.
Ideally, I need a minimum of 5 weeks before the date you'd like your alterations completed. If your wedding or event is sooner than that, please get in touch anyway—you never know, I may still have availability.
What is the process? Contact me with the date of your wedding or event and book a free consultation. 1. Bring your dress to your appointment so I can assess exactly what needs to be altered. 2. I will estimate the number of hours I believe the alterations will take and create a quote to email to you straight away, If you're happy with the quote, I will book you in. Or you can go away to think about and get back to me at a later stage if you decide to proceed. 3. Together we'll decide when you'd like your alterations completed—whether that's a week before your wedding, a month before, or even earlier. 4. We'll schedule all of your fitting appointments and your pick,up date and send you calendar invites so you can be certain you are "booked in"
Typically, your final pick up is 1–2 weeks before your wedding or event. Your main fitting is usually around 2 weeks before collection, while your initial consultation may take place anywhere from a few weeks to several months beforehand.
If your consultation is well in advance, we may arrange a re-pin appointment closer to the alteration date to ensure the perfect fit.
Payments? Once your alterations are complete, I will email you an invoice.
Payment can be made before collection or at your collection appointment using internet banking on your phone. I simply ask that payment is received before your dress leaves the studio.
I accept:
Internet banking (preferred)CashCredit card (surcharge applies)
Please note: I do not have EFTPOS available.
What do I need to bring to the fittings? To ensure your dress fits perfectly, please bring:
The bra or undergarments you plan to wear on the day.Your wedding or event shoes, if possible. If you don't have your shoes yet, please know the approximate heel height so we can hem your dress correctly.
Bringing these items helps me achieve the most accurate fit possible.
