About Us
I Sew 4 U was Mother and Daughter team Shirley Murdoch and Toni Moffatt for 15 yers, but Shirley has now retired so it is just Toni and her handsewing and unpicking assistant Toni - Yes we have 2 x Toni's!!!
Shirley started her dressmaking business over 30 years ago and in 2008 Toni joined her and they introduced the business name "I Sew 4 U". With the sewing room moving from an upstairs back bedroom to a downstairs fitted out workroom with adjoining consultation /fitting room. In 2023 Shirley decided to "semi retire'' so we moved the Business to Toni's house where she transfered her garage into the perfect room. With I Sew 4 U been a home based business it allows us the flexibility of accommodating appointment and fitting times to suit.

With Toni's Mother and both Grandmothers all been able to sew it was in no doubt she was going to follow in their footsteps. After coming top in the class at High School Clothing and Textiles she decided to attend Design Academy to learn Patternmaking and Advanced Sewing skills. After receiving her Diploma in Apparel Design and Construction she was immediately employed by Veronica Peppers of "Veronica Peppers Original Designs" (past winner of Benson and Hedges Young Designer of the Year) as her sewing assistant. Toni has also worked as a Clothing Cutter and Sample Machinist but her love of sewing lead her back to her roots and join forces with her mum.
Toni has a love of people. She is often praised by brides in reviews for her friendly chats.
In her limited spare time Toni Volunteers as a Kea Scout Leader, Group Leader of Motu Moana Green Bay Scout Group and is also the MoanaRua Zone Leader for Scouts Aotearoa.

Shirley started in the clothing industry over 45 years ago. After working as a Clothing Cutter and Sample Machinist with various sports firms, Shirley decided to further her dressmaking skills and attended Patternmaking Classes at Night School and became an Image Consultant who provided the services of Colour Analysis, Body Line and Style and Wardrobe Planning. Shirley is now mostly retired but still does a bit of hand sewing for the Business
